Paint Box Polish: Ciao, Gelato! Collection, Spring 2016

Good afternoon dears!  Sorry I've been behind on posting and my giveaway.  I've been swamped with swatching, editing, watermarking and the like.  So I'm in the process of trying to catch up on all those things at the moment.  I'm super excited for the collection I have to show you today.  Paint Box Polish was inspired by my favorite desert - ice cream!  Well gelato to be more specific.  I happened to send a picture of mountains of gelato to Pam while I was in Italy over Christmas and BING, inspiration hit!  This collection contains 8 new shades, 7 of which are a creamy/crelly formula and 1 with black flakies.  There's also a new cuticle oil, Amaretto Tiramisu (mmmmmm note to self - do not lick your cuticles).  You can pick up your favorites or the entire Ciao, Gelato! collection starting 3/19 at noon EST.  Don't forget to use the code MNPO for 15% off your entire order!  Now let's eat gelato...I mean look at swatches!

Family shot!  I don't have any other pictures of the Amaretto Tiramisu cuticle oil so let me tell you about it now.  It's scented like amaretto, espresso, cocoa, mascarpone and madeira.  It. Smells. Amazing!  Dessert on your finger tips!  Please remember to not eat it, just take deep sniffs.

Starting with my favorite gelato flavor, Stracciatella.  I have actually gotten into an argument with a faux gelateria in my city because they had stracciatella in their selection but it was cookies and cream flavored!  Blasphemy!  Stracciatella is chocolate chip, get it right buster.  But I digress.  Stracciatella is a cool white crelly base with irregular black flakies.  Perfect representation of the gelato flavor.  Formula and application were both great.  I used 3 coats for full coverage.  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

Probably one of the most popular gelato/ice cream flavors in the world - Fragola (strawberry).  This one is a pretty pink crelly.  It's not too bright, not too pastel, just somewhere perfect in the middle.  Formula and application were both good.  I did find it a touch streaky but it leveled out nicely in 3 coats and covered completely.  Topped with a layer of topcoat.

Melone is a beautiful pale cantaloupe shade.  I used to hate cantaloupe as a kid but now I love it so much. So when we were in Italy is was for Christmas.  Not exactly the best time for gelato, but when we did gt it I leaned towards more chocolatey and bold flavors.  I wish I would have tried this one because I bet it was amazing!  As you can see from my pictures, my nail line is still visible.  That really doesn't bother me, especially when the polish is as lovely as this.  I used 3 coats and a layer of topcoat.  Formula and application were both lovely.

Ananas is not what you would think.  It's Pineapple!  The color definitely screams pineapple, but the Italian word makes me think of bananas!  This is a bright yellow crelly that is the prefect shade of yellow.  It'll be great for a bright pop of color to a spring outfit OR to play up those vibrant summer clothes!  This was the only one that I did have a bit of trouble with - it took a little work to level out but after 3 coats I got it pretty good and then the layer of topcoat helped finish off the work.  You can see that my nail line is still visible here, but as I've said before it doesn't bother me.  I'd recommend a white or similar yellow base if you want to diminish that.

Pistacchio is another of my favorite ice cream flavors.  Also a taste that I grew to enjoy as I got older. This is a soft green crelly that is absolutely perfection for Spring!  Formula and application were both wonderful.  No issues to mention.  I used 3 coats for full coverage and then topped my mani with a layer of topcoat.

This one makes me laugh.  It's called Puffo.  Puffo or puffi refers to Smurfs.  Does the color make sense now?  This gelato is kind of a mystery flavor.   It could be bubble gum, cotton candy and the like. It's definitely sweet like candy.  I adore this blue, the shade is just the right amount of vibrant yet not neon.  The formula was creamy and opaque and it applied like a dream.  I used 2 coats and a layer of topcoat.

Frutti di Bosco means Fruit of the forest.  It's basically a blend of blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, pretty much any fruit you'd find out in the wild.  As for the polish, it's a gorgeous pinky-purple shade the definitely falls in the berry family.  Formula and application were aces.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and finished with topcoat.

Rounding out the collection is Bacio.  Baci means kiss, Baci is also a delicious chocolate hazelnut candy that you can pick up in specialty Italian markets.  So Bacio is a gorgeous milk-chocolatey creme that makes me want to gorge on chocolate.  I really love this warm brown color, the formula and application were both perfect.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and finished with topcoat for ultimate shine.
