Zoya Magical PixieDust, Summer 2014

Good afternoon!  I am happy to bring you the Summer Magical Pixies from Zoya in this post!  I didn't have the chance to try the Spring Magical Pixies so I can't very well compare them to each other.  But I can tell you that I really liked all 3 of these polishes.  They are beautiful and blingy and a nice change from all the neon collections that are out right now.  I am already a big fan of textured polish and the Summer Magical pixies are a great addition to any textured lovers collection.  Let's jump on in and look at polish!

*PRESS SAMPLE*

This sandy beach taupe is Bar.  Bar is a perfect neutral color that will be great for any occasion.  The jelly base formula was easy to apply and glitter came out in plentitude.  It spread well on my nails and wasn't thick.  I used 3 coats of Bar and no topcoat.

Ginni is a perfectly bubblegum pink with extra sparkle and bling from the holo glitters.  Just like Bar, Ginni had a jelly-like base that was easy to work with.  It built up well and I was happy with the glitter payoff.   The soft color and sparkle really work well together in Ginni.  I used 3 coats of Ginni and no topcoat.

Arlo is a grapey-berry purple texture polish packed full of matte and holographic glitters.  The jelly base is most prominent in Arlo, but I felt the color pay off was also the best.  The silver matte glitters really stand out against the base creating a pretty look.  I used 3 coats of Arlo and no topcoat.

The Lacquer Legion: Garden

Good afternoon!  It's a hot one out today and I am pretty much dead from an intense workout this morning, but I found the energy to do a mani for The Lacquer Legion theme Garden.  I actually had a much harder time with this than last months theme Glam.  I mean yes garden; flowers, bugs, trees, gnomes, fairies.  The possibilities are endless.  But I couldn't figure out what to do.  Then I shared a mani I have coming up in one of my nail groups and everyone really supported my attempt at stamping so I decided what better time to go all out and try an entire stamped mani?!  So here's what I came up with.  I went with a tropical flower stamp, Pueen 72 plate.  It reminded me of the gorgeous flowers in Hawaii and I so wish I were there right now.  Then I used all of my beautiful Color Club Halo Hues and mixed them about on the image plate for some very colorful, rainbow like flowers.  It gave me a very warm weather, fragrant air, vacation vibe.  I hope you like how it turned out (remember this is my first time doing an entire mani with stamping) because I am totally digging it!

Here's the list of polish I used:
Bettina - Marshmallow (3 coats)
Color Club - Halo-Graphic, Blue Heaven, Cosmic Fate, Miss Bliss, Kismet, Angel Kiss, and Eternal Beauty.

You can see more great Garden posts by following the Lacquer Legion Facebook and Instagram pages.  You can also find info for upcoming themes and the proper hashtags to use.  Check out #llgarden today to see how other bloggers interpreted the garden theme!

Memorial Day Mani!

Good afternoon!  As most of us Americans are getting ready to enjoy a day off of work and school, firing up the BBQ's and drinking a few cold ones let's remember the real reason behind this holiday.  Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and gratefulness to those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  To uphold the rights and freedom that we enjoy every day.  Today Americans remember the fallen soldiers who have served our great country.  I am very grateful for all the US soldiers, alive and passed on.  Thank you so much for your dedication to the USA.

For today I chose to go patriotic with my mani, but I needed to stay true to myself so I started out with 3 amazing holos!  Smitten Polish The First Lobster (red), Glitter Gal Light As A Feather (white) and Ninja Polish Glamorous (blue).  I topped them with a reverse glitter gradient of Lumina Lacquer Young Americans.  I seriously adore this red, white and blue glitter polish with all it's hearts, stars and circles!  I am very pleased with how my mani turned out.

Aly's Dream Polish Pinkberry (Dazzled March Holo Grail Box)

Hello there friends!  I've been working my boo-tay off all day cleaning house and preparing food for a big Memorial Day BBQ tomorrow.  Do you have any plans for tomorrow?  With all the chores I've been doing I'm coming at'cha with a short evening post featuring a very pretty pink holo from the Dazzled March Holo Grail Box.  Aly's Dream Polish is a brand I hadn't tried before but I was very happy with both the formula and application.  I enjoyed the unique color and always love me some pink holo!  My pictures are in the direct sunshine.  Pinkberry is a very bright, borderline neon pink, tight scattered holo with gold and fuchsia shimmer.  Formula and application were both great, no issues to report.  I used 3 coats and 1 layer of topcoat.

Red Dog Designs Aurora Coralis

Good evening!  Thought I'd pop in with a little post with a super fabulous one of a kind that Gina from Red Dog Designs made me as a birthday gift!  I am totally in love with all things coral (and holo) and this is just the perfect combination!  Something tells me I will be wearing this all summer long!  Sorry for sharing such a beauty that isn't available, but mosey on over to the Red Dog shop because I am sure there is something you will love there!  Gina excels in glitters and textures and her recent Spring collection - The Butterfly Garden is AMAZING!  You can see my post for that collection HERE.  Auroral Coralis....what can I say?  It's a soft peachy coral color that is so beautiful!  Aurora Coralis also has a very soft, loose linear holo effect.  The formula was so creamy and smooth.  Application was like butter.   I used 1 coats of Aurora Coralis and 1 layer of topcoat.

Dior Aventure

Good afternoon lovely readers!  Just wanted to pop in with a quick/short post of sheer polish perfection.  Seriously!  I received the new Dior colors for my birthday and tried one out, holy moly I am in love with the color, the brush, the formula - everything!  Ok so Aventure is one of the brand new colors in the huge Gel Shine Color collection that was released in April.  The formula is almost like a crelly, super squishy and shiny but completely covers in 2 coats (no visible nail line - at least on me and my nails are nubby, so I can't speak for VNL so long nails).  Aventure is a fantastic bright and juicy red-orange shade that I simply adore.  I really can't say enough about how fantastic the color and formula are on Aventure!  I think they also changed the brush a little, it seemed wider and covered my nails even more perfectly with one easy swipe.  I am totally looking forward to trying the other Dior Gel Shine Colors that I have!  My pictures are without topcoat.

**Dior is also available at: Nordstrom, Sephora, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and Macy's.

Lilypad Lacquer Nature's Gift (Dazzled March Holo Grail Box)

Good morning & good weekend!  Last week was long and a bit stressful.  I am very much looking forward to Summer vacation...17 days to go and the boys are out!  Well we've got a little baseball today and them my hubby is going to put some ribs in the smoker and we shall have a nice little dinner!  So I am just going to drop this pretty little polish here for you to look at.  This is Lilypad Lacquer Nature's Gift from the Dazzled March Holo Grail Box.  It was an interesting polish no doubt, but not really what I was expecting for a holo.  Mind you, everyone's opinions and tastes vary, but for me I was slightly let down with it.  Nothing at all wrong with it, I would have just preferred something else - a brighter color, more holo.  Maybe I am just being picky.  Anyways, you take a look and tell me what you think.

Nature's Gift has a lot going on, it's like 2 polishes rolled up into 1.  In the sunlight Nature's Gift is like an inky blackened blue with a tight scattered holo effect.  But in the shade it's more of a green and gold shifting base with flakies.  The formula and application were both good, no issues to report.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and 1 layer of topcoat.
